Nature in the classroom

Image
Sometimes it isn't possible to go outside your classroom to teach, so why not bring it indoors. Children love viewing nature up close. Touching a feather, a rock or a shell can really arouse questions and get them thinking. Here is an easy tip for you to bring nature into your classroom.  Share how you bring nature into your classroom in the comments below.

The Real Struggle

Image
I'm really struggling this week to get up and go. If it weren't for working hours, I'd stay in bed ALL day. I do attribute some of my slack due to a bug I had for a few days. Monday I woke up barely speaking. As an English Online Teacher, this is not acceptable. I had to figure a way to get my voice back. So I reached for the salt to do the traditional remedy and gargle. It worked some for that day. However, I still needed something else so I used the Chloroseptic spray to do another class. By my third class, I was sucking on a cough drop. That did the trick! I'm sure many of you out there have so many wonderful homemade remedies for a scratchy throat. I think I tried them all. I muddled through it. But there still was something gnawing at me. I've found myself truly depressed this week. Not feeling well didn't help but feeling like I just want to bawl my eyes out was a sign something isn't right in the brain. The Adventure Begins

Yesterday marked my husband's maiden voyage in the air. As exhausted as my husband was, Monday, Oct. 8, 2017, was the longest day ever. Not only that but the most mileage ever traveled by air, too. We arrived at San Antonio Airport at 6:00 a.m. both excited but frankly, I was concerned. So concerned that when the option to purchase medical insurance when booking our flight, I ended up paying that extra money because I was worried my husband may have some issue arise. I wasn't taking any chances. So that morning, we woke up our late rising son at 4:30 a.m. This twenty-one-year-old wakes up daily at around noon. So it took some major nudging to get him up. Why were we going to pay for a taxi or Uber when you've got a driver in the family? He just had to climb in the car, since his father drove to the airport. As we backed out of the driveway, we said a prayer for the protection of our family and our home. Hugs and kisses were shared as we grabbed our luggage and head in

Whirlwind into teaching English in China

Where do I begin? Life has taken a few turns lately and even more coming. I recently have started a new teaching adventure. Actually, about a year ago, I decided that I was rather lacking in current methods of teaching. I had started about eight years back teaching students online. I actually started a Science curriculum online but frankly, it never really took off. Yet, the idea has always stayed in my head. A niece of mine introduced me to Coursera where you can take online courses and I noticed that I was really enjoying learning through this style of teaching. So I took several courses to refresh my knowledge of various Sciences. Then one day my eye was caught by the title Virtual Education through Technology. Being, I so love teaching because it is who I am. I began to notice that my body isn't as young as it was. I was devasted in March 2016 when I was walking with a cane. It brought me to thinking, what am I going to do if I can no longer walk? So I endeavored to s
